Ontario's forest bioeconomy is investment-ready.
Ontario has one of the largest sustainably managed forest resources in the world. The supply is here, the global demand is real, and through collaboration, we’re unlocking its potential.
Ontario's forests cover 70.5 million hectares and support over 154,500 jobs across the province.
The sector generated $20.8 billion in revenue in 2024 alone. It is a sector ready to support the next generation of wood-based products.
Yet Ontario harvests less than half of its annual allowable cut each year, and combined with mill and bush residuals, that untapped fibre supply is the real opportunity.

A world-class critical resource, right here at home.
Ontario's forests represent 20% of all Canadian forest land, supported by one of the most sustainable frameworks in the world. The opportunity is now. It is available, renewable, and ready to be put to work.
The foundation is already in place: established forestry and manufacturing infrastructure, a skilled workforce, strong research and innovation capacity, and access to Canadian and global markets.
At the same time, significant volumes of available fibre remain underutilized. That gap is the opportunity.
Ontario is already home to some of the world's most valuable critical resources. Our forests are among them and they are ready to be put to work.
Global demand is growing. Ontario is positioned to supply it.
Across construction, energy, and manufacturing, industries are actively shifting toward low-carbon, bio-based alternatives. That shift is being driven by climate commitments, supply chain security concerns, and growing demand for sustainable bio-materials from stable, trusted jurisdictions.
Ontario is well positioned to meet that demand. With abundant fibre, industrial expertise, and proximity to key markets, the province offers what global buyers are looking for. International companies are already evaluating Ontario for investment and supply.
The market is already moving. Ontario is positioned to supply it.

The pathway is clear.
Ontario has already identified where growth in the forest bioeconomy can come from: integrating proven technologies into existing industry.
Provincial investment has already unlocked nearly $98 million in committed funding, helping secure more than $540 million in additional external investment. That capital is already flowing into operating projects across the province.
Opportunities range from near-term products like biochar and renewable fuels to large-scale biorefineries and advanced wood construction. With the right policy signals and investment conditions, Ontario can attract global capital and scale development across the province.
The roadmap is clear. The asset is ready. Now is the time to build.
